there are a lot of "new" factors impacting this ancient need we have for travel... airbnb is one of the worst contributors to over-tourism AND gentrification by taking long-term reasonably priced housing off the market and making it a $$$ place for tourists. The world is free to explore (I wrote a book about doing just that), but its important we're mindful of the impact we make wherever we visit or call home... help inform tourists how they can best inhabit a place, and as a tourist, consider the impact of your actions and your money.
