The consistent formatting is a great one. I've been getting better at that throughout this year. I now italics all internal voice, and "quote" all dialogue, when I used to sort of do whatever I felt depending on the line and the context it was in. Both work, it's just a matter of sticking to a formal that helps the reader consum your words the way you intended.
