The Best Book Ever to Become a Blockbuster Film (That I Would Bet You’ve Never Read or Watched)
It’s One of My Three Favorite Books of All Time And in My Top 10 Movies
I’ve never finished a book that was so good my first thought was, “I need to write something about this book.”
Furthermore, I decided to read the book because I had seen the movie over 15 years ago as an undergrad in college, and it’s remained in my memory as not just a great film, but as an important college experience.
Myself and Chicken, my best friend at Saint Norbert College, watched an hour of the film every night for a week before going to bed. We became the two main characters in the film, as we looked forward to and wondered about what would happen next to Gus and Call when we caught up with them on their journey that night.
We were already a team, but watching that film deepened our bond. We agreed with the code the two lead men lived by and silently agreed to respect, love, and look out for each other in the same way.
