Respectfully... I disagree wholeheartedly. Human connection is an ancient need and being alone forces you to take the first step in starting conversations with strangers and trying to end the creeping feeling of loneliness. I very much prefer to travel alone, and this is one of the main reasons... I've met some of my very closest friends while solo traveling and I'm certain I never would have if I was on a "boys trip" or something.
