I've written about this same idea here and there as well... how a lot of successful Medium writers keep banging the drum of "dont over think it, just hit publish every day!" It's definitely not good for the quality of what floats around this eco-system... even if it might be the easiest way to make a little money. For me, everything I hit publish on has my name on it and i want to be sure it's up to my standard of quality and thoughtfulness.
Over the past 6 months I've had the goal of publishing weekly. Having that as my concept of "publishing consistentiy," has worked failry well because i always have 5 ideas in draft mode, and the goal of getting something out weekly helps me to keep my lazy foot on the gas pedal.
Great piece and thanks for joining in with the minority saying "maybe DON'T publish every day..." For me, there's just aboslutely no way the majority of your stuff will be worth reading if you do. Simple as that.
