I've always said I would never go back to Australia unless it was to work... the cost of living, even for a few weeks, is just too crazy. Stop at a gas station for road trip snacks, you're down $25. Buy a round of drinks for a few friends, you're down $50. It's just brutal. If you're working... it's alright because they pay well... but if you're just there as a tourist, it's impossible to escape the feeling that breathing the air is costing you money and it's just not worth it.
