I think most marketing folks would VERY much disagree with you. For example, I wrote a book two years ago... if I took this attitude after it was live on Kindle I probably would have sold 50 copies to friends and family. I pushed the book wherever I could which is why I've sold close to 1000 copies now... which is pretty good for being self-published.

I don't take any given medium piece I write NEARLY as seriously as I took my book... but I defintely push it out into the world. I share it on all of my social media channels, a few different whats app groups based on the content, and I share it in a number of facebook groups as well (also depending on the theme of the piece and related groups.)

There is a LOT you can do to help your story be found. Writing it and hitting publish is just the start if you really love the words you wrote and you want more people to find them.
