I agree with most of your points here, but the beauty of the self publishing world is that at the end, the readers review... and the readers don't care if a professional editor gave feedback, or if it was promoted by a huge marketing team—they're just responding to what they read. True, a lot of it IS bad, but the readers out there will let you know what is good as well. (I'm personally self-published and very proud of my 150+ reviews and 4.9 average!) I agree there's a lot of self-published work out there that is not worth most folks time, but SOME OF IT IS! Some of it's pure gold (cough, cough) and definitely worth checking out.
