I agree with most of this… the one thing that made me think “I dunno, man” is Travel giving purpose. I wrote a travel memoir about 4 years backpacking and one quote from the book is… “Some feel a lack of purpose while traveling, but for me the travel was the purpose. It was enough.” I think the difference is backpacking vs being a digital nomad … and the expectations that come with each. You were just living life (work, gym, dinner) with the background changing, and backpacking is a bit more about how much you can get to know the background… But I guess that still means I agree with your take, just commenting on the different styles of international travel.
