I’ve written a lot about my life in Mexico over the last four-plus years. Most of the publications are love letters of different flavors, like the many varieties of mole in Oaxaca where I live.

Most recently I wrote a piece about being in the best shape of my life at 40, which was almost entirely so I could explain how positive of an impact the food and lifestyle in Puerto Escondido has had on my 40-year-old body.

I’ve also written articles covering six common misconceptions about Mexico (i.e. it’s not tinted yellow, it’s not that dangerous, etc.), and another on four uniquely Mexican things the whole world should adopt (like the finger nod and provecho culture).

I even wrote a poem about Puerto Escondido, my chosen home.

I hadn’t written a poem since middle school.

Now, most of what I write about Mexico you can find on my Substack, which is entirely dedicated to my life, adventures, and favorite bites in and around Puerto Escondido.
