10 Things People Have Enjoyed For Over 100 Years
Delights and Pleasures That Have Stood the Test of Time
Creating this list brought me a deep well of peace. In our quickly changing world, considering what has lasted gives me a sense of security. If we liked these things 100 years ago, and many of us like them still today — I reason they have a good chance of existing in 100 more years (if we make it that long as a species).
I recently started watching the TV series Peaky Blinders, set over 100 years ago in the United Kingdom. The world created within the show instigated the thoughts that led to this post. While watching the first few seasons, I found calm in the mental chorus: maybe we haven’t changed all that much.
The show has had me reflecting on how our nature as people is reasonably sturdy, even if the rate of change in the tech world is blasting into space on a penis-shaped rocket.
Most of these ten pleasures below, the Peaky Blinders enjoyed along with your granddad’s dad. Also, your grandkid’s kids will likely still enjoy these activities a century from now, which is what I find most fascinating after sitting with these thoughts.
